Howland Insulation & Home Improvement
Founded in 1946, Howland Home Improvement has been providing quality products and services to its customers in the Lakes Region for over 60 years. And now with the third generation, Craig and Kelly Howland continue to follow the same principles that have made the company so successful for the past six decades. Craig’s grandfather, Ed Howland and his wife, Margaret, ran the company together from 1946 and through the 1960s. Then, in 1969, Craig’s parents, David and Gale Howland, took over the family business until Craig and Kelly took over in 2006. According to Family Business Magazine, of all the family companies out there, barely 10% make it to the third generation. So the Howland’s are very proud of their history and look forward to many more years of servicing the community. When founded, the company focused primarily on insulation. Today, we’re proud to say that we’ve grown to specialize in many aspects of home improvement. For some, we even provide complete turnkey design/build of custom homes. The future of our business looks bright with the next generation of Howlands at the helm.
Irwin Automotive Group
Welcome to the Irwin Automotive Group in Laconia, New Hampshire. The Irwin Automotive Group is not just an automobile dealership. The Irwin Automotive Group is a story, a mission, if you will, of customer relationships that has spanned many decades. Our mission began in 1952 when a twenty-six year old decided to build, not just a dealership, but also the finest and largest automobile dealership in New Hampshire. To put this ambition in perspective, there were a grand total of three Lincoln Mercury car registrations in Belknap County, NH in 1951. Not a lot on which to vase the single largest auto complex in the entire state. Nonetheless, a family headed by Robert and Susanne Irwin, undertook the mission to start this business. The mission, fueled by loyal customers, employees, and the addition of Ford two years later, transcended (some may argue "overcame") the decline of New England's textile industry in the 1950's, a community misstep called urban renewal in the 1960's, the faint promise of a highway corridor to Interstate 93 that was endured from 1970 to this day, a second home and condominium binge in the 1980's, and the tumultuous change in the US manufacturing landscape of the early 21st century. In retrospect, 1979 was a watershed year for the Irwin Family. It was the year when the Irwin Toyota division of what we now call the Irwin Automotive Group was started. Irwin's has been selling, leasing, and servicing Toyotas ever since with an unfailing passion for the Toyota named and quality. Irwin added Scion in 2002, added Hyundai in 2011, a Budget Car Center in 2012 and other business interests ensued accompanied by an emphasis on community involvement. Irwin's community involvement includes, but, is not limited to employee affiliations with, and financial support for Community Health & Hospice, major donor ($25,000) status for the Laconia Library construction, the Rotary Club, the Lion's Club, the Laconia Putnam Fund, and the Lakes Region General hospital Board of Trustees. In addition, the Irwin Automotive Group has provided for years, at no charge, winter indoor hitting and pitching facility for local Little League and ASA girls softball. Over the course of the last fifty plus years the Irwin Automotive Group has given back to the community in excess of $1,000,000!!! Throughout it all there remains a constant mission for the Irwin Automotive Group, strive for the highest possible customer satisfaction while displaying, selling, leasing, and servicing all of our new and used lines." Please join us today, and for many years to come, in the Irwin Automotive Group, Where the automobile experience is brought into a different dimension" on Bisson and Union Avenues in Laconia New Hampshire.
